Thank you for looking at this beautiful Buescher 400 "Top-Hat and Cane." This alto has been restored by a respected instrument repairman who specializes in vintage saxes. This Buescher is known for its "snap pads" and this sax has custom made chocolate Roo pads Extreme. They were hand made for this horn using the exact pad cup measurements and not just the typical "off the shelf" sizing.

The roo pads extreme are about triple the cost of regular roo pads due to the use of amazingly stable synthetic felt and fiberglass mesh backing.

There are no dents and the instrument is in spectacular condition. The lacquer is around 80-85% intact. All springs are Gold plated. The cork is brand new. The serial number, 356xxx, indicates the horn was made between 1955 and 1960. More photos are available. Just let me know and I'll email them.

Also included in this purchase is a D'Addario Select Jazz mouthpiece (D5) with soft case. The heavy sax case is included as well. This case has an area for a clarinet as well, however that insert is missing.

I am adding $50 for shipping to make sure that when you get it home, it is in excellent condition. It is available for local pick up in the Southern California area.

The Buescher 400 was the greatest sax of its time. It is truly the last, great American made saxophone. This would be an excellent horn for any high school or college student that is interested in jazz.

I am a high school band director and have barely played on the instrument. I spent a lot money to restore it but I am a brass musician and am not playing it as much as I had hoped. I am hoping tofind a good home for this unbelievable sax.
