Selling my Marshall Valvestate 8280 2X12 stereo combo guitar amp.

This auction is for the amp itself plus the original footswitch and a power cord.

It is in excellent condition for its age, and shows little wear and cosmetic flaws.

This is part of the original Marshall Valvestate hybrid ss/tube amp series from the 90's, before the VS, AVT or MG series were created. The original Marshall ECC83 preamp tube has been replaced with a Groove Tubes 12AX7RC, for more gain and a better sound.

The original Valvestate series were modeled after a modded JCM800, and are considered by many to be the best Marshalls for metal ever. Chuck Schuldiner/Death recorded with them, as well as Prong, Static X, Life Of Agony, Meshuggah, Disincarnate/James Murphy, and White Zombie. Gregg T from Mudvayne used them with both Mudvayne and his Hell Yeah project. These amps were also used on many classic 90s extreme metal albums recorded at Morrisound Studios in Florida. These are also the last Marshall amps to be manufactured 100% in England at Milton-Keynes.

The Valvestate 8280 was the top-of-the-line combo model in Marshall's Valvestate family. It features two Celestion G12T-100 speakers, designed by Celestion especially for hybrid amps. The amp runs at 80-watts per side. Unique "contour" knob changes the EQ basis of drive channel controls, from warm vintage hard rock tones on the left side, to brutal crushing metal towards the right. Clean channel is "JC-120ish" with a crunch switch for extra gain stage, while the overdrive channel features two levels of gain. There is also built in stereo chorus and flange, and parallel and serial effects loops with level control.

This unit was thoroughly examined and restored by Revamp Amp Repair in Hollywood CA. Among other internal soldering  and electric work, they gave it a new reverb tank. I can assure you it is in perfect working order, and as noise-free as a Valvestate can possibly be. It will be shipped to you in a box which another 2x12 combo amp came in, to ensure safe travel.
