Antique Victorian Cameo…………….

This is a beautiful Early Victorian Cameo of Apolo’s love Daphne.

The carving is of superior quality, with fairly high relief. The colour of the shell is

used skilfully to highlight the laurel leaves and folds in her dress.

This is a beautiful piece with an unusual engraved scroll mount in 9ct Gold.

The rear has an extended* steel pin with a c clasp.

In excellent condition, there are no stress marks or cracks to the piece.

Size is: 4.5cm (1 ¾”) high x 1 ½” (just short of 4cm) wide.

*Extended pins on brooches are often a good indicator of period. The pins were made longer and extended beyond the edge of a brooch to accommodate the thicker Victorian fabrics that were pre 1880’s
