  Description

Box has aging and staining - but these all seem to be easily susceptible to staining - as these go, this is one of the nicer ones we've seen. Case in great shape. Radio in great shape with minimal wear. Medalian ""opener"" has been replaced long ago with a key ring (we suspect to hang on a belt). Ear phones and case present. Both radio and earphones work!

We strive to provide an accurate description of all items. PLEASE, please, please EMAIL OR CALL with any additional questions you may have. Keep in mind, you are bidding on a vintage item - expect natural aging....look at the large pictures provided. Also, please be aware that close up pictures might emphasize dust and minor imperfections that you won't see with the naked eye. Most of our items are from 30 to 50 years old and will have some degree of stress cracks, crazing, etc. Expect them. We do not highlight 'typical wear' unless we feel it is out of the norm. Additionally, wires get brittle, rubber dry rots, strings get frail. Talking mechanisms go mute. Battery operated items stop working. All our items are sold for display purposes only.  We will always tell you the operability of items in our possession - but we cannot, in any way, offer any guarantees of their continued operability.

Batman 1966 Super Micro Secret Bat Radio Boxed

This listing is for an all original, Batman Super Micro Secret Bat-Radio circa 1966.  Fully working 9 Transistor AM radio - an interesting side note about transistor radios from www.transistor.org:

In the early 1960s, transistor prices had come down enough that certain manufacturers began to increase the count of the transistors in their radios, ostensibly to offer better performance.  However, in most AM-only radios, only eight transistors actually are active in the circuit.  The extra transistors were merely soldered into the board and didn't do anything!  (In fact, some manufacturers used "dud" transistors.)  The one-upmanship rose to ridiculous levels, with transistor counts of 16, 18, or even higher being claimed.  The practice finally died out when the term "solid state" became popular for any tubeless radio.

This was one quality piece!  The colorful box sports the iconic 1960's Batman logo along with a torso up image of Batman holding said radio!  Inside the box is a (approximately 3.5" x 4.5" x 1.25" quality hinged metal case with textured outer covering.  The hinged case contains a small battery operated radio. A metal plate is on top of the case which reads "Batman Secret Super-Micro Radio" along with a bat symbol. Inside of case lid is an illustrated cardboard insert with additional text and a great image of Batman holding this very radio. Below Batman is the Gotham City skyline. Bottom of case has silk-like fabric covering a cardboard insert designed to hold the radio.. The radio is approximately 1" x 2.25" x 2" tall and has a chromed metal front with a black plastic backing. Front speaker cover has name plate. The top of the radio sports the volume and tuning knobs. Attached by chain to one side is metal medallion with bat symbol on one side and text "Transistor Bat-Radio" on the other. This medallion is actually to be used to open the screw on back for battery placement. A special order battery (still available) is needed. Completing the set is a two prong earphone (scarce to find!) and a plastic carrying case to hold it.

Who we are

L & L Collectables is a small, family run business. We have been buying, selling, and, yes, collecting since the early 80's.  As veterans of 'local' toy, doll, and antique shows, we actually miss the human contact so feel free to contact us via email or phone anytime.   In the world of collecting, 'small business' often translates to poor customer service - we hope our eBay feedback demonstrates we always do our best to treat our customers as we would like to be treated. Please see our 'about me' page for more about us.

Please review our policies below:

Payment

  • Payment is due within 2 days of auction close or date of purchase - EXCEPTION: if payment is snail mailed, we request it to be mailed within 2 business days.   Ebay insists on PayPal, but we have no problem with just about any other method.  ( Personal cks are held up to 10-15 days to clear.)
  • California insists we collect 8.75% sales tax for California residents - unless you can provide a valid resale number.  And we don't like it either.
  • Paypal payments - we will ONLY ship to shipping address listed on Paypal payment page.
Communication
auction@landlcollectables.com or (408) 998-5942

We do our best to answer all emails regarding active listings/sold items within one business day.   We  don't always answer offers to take less (if we wanted to list it for less or with a 'make offer' option, we would have) or on closed/sold listings.

Shipping & Handling

We have found that the eBay shipping calculator is often incorrect, so don't count on it as the final word.   We only charge exact shipping/insurance costs.

Paypal payments -  we will ONLY ship to shipping address listed on Paypal payment page.
  • US buyer pays $18.00 shipping & insurance (required).  (Contiguous US Only!).  We do NOT make money on shipping nor do we charge packing or handling fees.  Items will be shipped either USPS Priority, Parcel, or 1st class (dependent on size/purchase price).   If you need a specific method, please let us know and shipping will be adjusted accordingly.
  • All packages over $250 will require a signature.
  • International buyer pays EXACT shipping & insurance (VAT/Taxes/Duty is the responsibility of the buyer. Please know your own country's fees for imports).

We REALLY love selling internationally.  We've met many people through the years and many have become our dearest friends.  Your business is important and valuable to us. However, please do not bid, if you are unable to comply with the following:

  • WE DO NOT FALSIFY CUSTOMS FORMS .
  • Please do not ask us to put down a false amount or classify as a gift.
  • It is the buyer's responsibility to know and pay all their own country's duty/import taxes and fees.

Shipping Time:   Our normal shipping days are Tuesdays and Fridays.  There is a one business day processing time needed for shipments (ie items paid by midnight Sunday will go out Tuesday.  We try to get most items paid on Monday shipped on Tuesday - but if time doesn't permit, please don't expect package to ship until Friday).

Damaged in Shipping/Returns & Refund Policy

If an item arrived damaged, contact us immediately.  Please be sure to retain ALL packaging including the box and packing materials, and we will file an insurance claim for you.

After offering unconditional returns for 25 years, we can no longer do so. Officially, everything is sold AS-IS.  HOWEVER, we're extremely reasonable people and if you contact us with any grave issues within two days of receipt, we'll work with you - auction@landlcollectables.com or by phone at (408) 998-5942.  Buyers would be responsible for ALL return shipping and insurance costs. Insurance would be required and must cover the eBay final bid price.  Changes of heart (ie buyer's remorse) will never be a legitimate return reason.  We will not consider for return any 'sealed' item which has been open by buyer - regardless of contents. We also reserve the right to charge a 15% restocking fee for returns or order cancellations - at our discretion.  We do NOT offer partial refunds.
