BP9110 Bazaar Patterns Multisized Reproduction of a

                                        1914 Princess Petticoat Pattern.

                                                 Bust 32 to 44 inches.

UPDATE FOR 2016: this revised reproduction of an original 1914 sewing pattern is now available in seven sizes from Bust 32 to 44 inches, Hips 34 to 46 inches!  The Edwardian princess petticoat is a classic lingerie style, a camisole and ankle-length underskirt combined in one practical and pretty undergarment. Bazaar Patterns BP9110 is made of only three main pieces and goes together easily.  It has a centre back opening, a ribbon at the waist and a vent in the front hem to help you walk in the narrow skirts of the era.  A delightfully simple, no-fuss alternative to other, more complicated princess petticoats!  It is easy to fit and fun to decorate with lace, ribbon and embroidery.  We give extra notes to help you sew the pretty lace decoration mentioned in the original instructions.

Petticoats like this are perfect for Titanic era, Downton Abbey Series One dresses - day or evening, practical or fancy.  The slim silhouette is a must under narrow skirts, (such as our BP9109 Hobble Suit listed separately), a late Edwardian style that carries on into early World War 1.  Bazaar Patterns BP9110 is an easy shape with many possibilities for modern wear too!  Make it up as shown with fine white cotton and lace and wear it even as a vintage-style summer dress or nightie. How about printed cotton lawn and novelty trimming for an easy to wear dress for holidays?  Shorten the hem and it’s a great beach cover-up!  Or perhaps silky crepe-de-chine and lace, for a special evening dress.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS LISTING IS FOR A PATTERN AND NOT FOR A GARMENT.

Bazaar Patterns MULTISIZED are a little different to the other Bazaar Patterns vintage reproductions.  They are still meticulously traced from rare, antique patterns but the period fit has been minimally tidied up and graded into 7 wearable sizes.  The patterns come with the original instructions and illustrations if present.  These are generously augmented with additional notes and illustrations to help modern dressmakers, but keep the original vintage charm we expect from Bazaar Patterns.  Seam allowances and balance marks have also been added for modern users.  These patterns do not fit quite like modern ones, so should be tested first and customised for fit in cheap fabric.

Skill level = IMPROVING BEGINNER TO INTERMEDIATE.  Some knowledge of working with lace and making a placket with buttonholes or press-studs (yes, they’re authentic!) is useful, as well as the ability to test the fit.
