Antique Victorian / Edwardian White Gold, Diamond & Sapphire Parure

This is so pretty and it is so rare to get a matching parure these days.

The main stones are Teal coloured (although showing as purple on the pictures!), changing to Purple or Blue depending upon the type of light they are in. These are surrounded by nearly 40, old Rose cut natural diamonds.

The coloured stones (not the diamonds) are synthetic* colour change Sapphire / Corundum which was invented over a hundred years ago and is often confused with Alexandrite which is a different stone altogether (Chrysoberyl).

Synthetic Sapphires have been made since the late 19th Century and were made in commercial quantities since the begining of the 20th century when they were used prolifically. A synthetic sapphire has exactly the same properties as a natural sapphire, it is grown in a lab and it is not to be confused with coloured glass.

A synthetic Sapphire tests on all gemmology equipment as a Sapphire and the distinction is only clear under a microscope when you look at the growth rings (although some experienced gemmologists / professionals can sometimes see them using a magnifying glass loupe).

This fabulous set has been handmade in solid 9ct white gold (not gold plated) and represents many hours of work. The design is just so pretty and the diamonds are bright white and sparkle beautifully.

The earrings have posts and butterly fasteners

The set would make a fabulous special birthday gift and comes in a vintage style double door presentation case.

Total weight is 13.7g
