Antique Unique Round Back Platform Rocking Chair Caned

Very unusual chair with springs installed between the base and upper seat portion that allows it to rock.  Rounded design with cane on the back and on the seat is also very unusual. 

Appears to have been recaned many, many years ago based on the partial hand written label.  Work was done in Bristolville, Ohio (apparently the only Bristolville in the US and there are quite a few Cadwalladers in Ohio, so that helps to make the case).  Caning looks to be in good condition with no obvious breaks.   Normal antique wear and tear.  Leg cross pieces have been reglued and likely should be redone with a bit more expertise. 

The chair is about 35.5" high at the back and the seat is about 19.5" wide in the front.

A word of caution, this chair has the potential to be a bit of a finger trap, especially if there are young children in the home.  In fact, for decades the two sections had been tied together with cloth.  However, in the right home, this could be an excellent and very unusual addition to the decor.  Finding another one would likely be quite a challenge as I've never seen one like it, so likely a rare piece.
