This package includes three boards: one board for gain stages 1 & 2 (BA189), the second board for the output amp (BA283AM) and the third board for the entire 1073 EQ/filter section, including make-up gain. Add small parts to the boards, transistors, inductors, wire up your input and output transformers, a gainswitch and a few connectors: voilà! Build it yourself and save a bunch.

The configuration is based on the BA189+BA283AM -- instead of the BA284+BA283AV, as found in the original 1073. I found that this 3-board topology (borrowed from the 1290) worked best. All stages are functionally equivalent. For example, the second half of the BA284 (i.e. the make-up gain) is included on the filter board. The circuit is otherwise 100% faithful to the original Neve circuits. All parts are standard.

The top layer is for chassis ground; the bottom layer is for signal and audio ground. All discrete paths, approaching star-ground for the grounding scheme. Isolation is of the utmost importance and all wiring points have shield connections. The traces are thick and curved -- no sharp bends or abrupt intersections.
