What is Z-Mode?
Z-Mode is a 3 position toggle switch on the plate that delivers three organic bass voices with clarity and definition—giving you more control, range, and musicality while retaining the passive sound you love. You can’t get this level of definition, responsiveness, and range with any other preamp on the market.
- Mid Z-Mode (center position) – this is the sound of your passive bass. You will not lose your passive sound - you will gain more touch responsiveness and better pickup mixing. Typically players spend the majority of their time in this mode.
- High Z-Mode (toward the bridge) – this is a bright, aggressive sound. This mode is often used for slap playing.
- Low Z-Mode (toward the neck) – this is a deeper, focused response. The unique aspect of this mode is it features very good note timing location and is never muddy. Lots of bass players have been looking for this sound and attempt to get it with tone controls on other preamps without success.
- During installation, a temporary programming switch on the board allows you to select from a set of Z-Mode configurations.
