Description Voitech Kubasta was an engineer artist that worked for Artia in Prague in the 1950's and 1960's, and is considered by many to be the father of the pop up book! His books were WAY ahead of their time, with cleverly designed children's pop up books, most often devoted to fairy tales. This book is a first edition THUS, that was published in English for distribution by Bancroft in London. The true First edition would probably be in Czech. His early books gave rise to the popularity of pop ups, and his early books are highly desired by collectors.
This one is in excellent, Very Good condition. There is some slight repaired damage to the first page. The book contains 8 pop ups, and 4 mechanical pull-outs. All but the first one are in undamaged condition. The first one is fragile - the pull out piece has created closed tears to the page, which have been glued back in place with acid free glue. There are close up photos of all the flaws The crease to the mechanical has been strengthened with acid free card stock glued to the back. The pull out and page display well, but are fragile and need to be used carefully. Flaws are minimal - corners are slight bumped, book is tight, bright and clean.

I hate adding more garbage to the environment; if you receive a box from me that has been used before, I am "recycling". I will make sure it's sturdy and the item well packaged. I will ensure your item will arrive in good condition, but the box may not be pretty (or it might be - I have to buy boxes, as well). All shipping within the US is free to you. All my packages are tracked, but if for some reason you don't receive your item or it arrives broken, I will refund your money.
