Original Soundtracks

ITEM DESCRIPTION: Out-of-print, original 1997 Italian-issue CD of music from the original soundtracks to the 1975 and 1984 softcore adult films based on the erotic novel The Story of O.

These scores for the films Histoire d’O and Histoire d’O: Chapitre 2 were composed by Pierre Bachelet and Stanley Myers, respectively.

Three cues in the later film are credited to then emerging soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer.  He may also be responsible for the track “Deviation” which has appeared on an unofficial HZ collection.

UK session guitarist Alan Murphy (Mike & The Mechanics, Kate Bush) and saxophonist Ron Aspery (credited as Ron Asprey) are soloists in the Myers/Zimmer soundtrack.  “Never Will You Know” is sung by Valerie Lortal.

The Pierre Bachelet score is a classic of the genre, full of atmospheric wordless female vocals, cult Easy Listening ambience, dreamy 1970s synth textures, occasional prog-style bass and drums and a wild piece of hammy psyche/glam-rock “O’ She’s A Lady”. 

The note on the rear inlay states: “This disc has been mastered in Dolby Surround™, when replayed through a Dolby Surround™ system the full potential of the original programme is unlocked, bringing first-rate theatre performance into your home.”

CD is in EXCELLENT condition, plays perfectly.  Booklet and rear inlay are in NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT condition, no blemishes.  The rear inlay is printed ‘Promotional only’.

This is an original and genuine factory-pressed CD with its full original documentation in an intact jewel case. It is not a CD-R, not a copy and not a bootleg.
