DROPS Lace is a premium blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% mulberry silk, spun into a 2 strands yarn with a generous length of about 800 meters per skein. This means that one skein is usually enough for a large lace project.

The fibers are untreated, which means that they are only washed and not exposed to any chemical treatment prior to the dyeing. This highlights the fibers’ natural properties, while it provides also a better shape and texture quality.

DROPS Lace is a lace yarn at its very best: delicately fine and incredibly soft, which makes it perfect for creating lightweight shawls, wraps, and scarves with intricate and decorative lace motifs. While the suggested tension is small, most lace patterns recommend a much larger needle or hook size so that the lace really stands out. Tension in lace depends on how open or lacy a fabric you want and needle/hook size can vary.

DROPS Lace contains mixed colours, this means the wool is manufactured by carding the colours together before spinning, which gives it a mixed effect.

LITTLE NOTE FROM ME ABOUT THIS YARN:
When I just start knitting, I used to use baby alpaca from Rowan, but as you know it is very expensive, and it is still a little itchy when touch against bare skin. A year ago I found out about DROPS, which is lots of professional crafter's favourite. The baby alpaca silk yarn is the first yarn I purchase from them, they are not only is a lot lower on price, but the quality is just the best ever!! The baby alpaca wool they use is a lot finer, and heavenly silky smooth with added mulberry silk, with great texture and bounce when knitted! I've become a DROPS fan ever since.

WHY DROPS?

As an architect, crafting was just a hobby, I make toys and nursery essentials for friends' babies, home decor and cosy blankets for family (mum is my biggest fan and never too shy to ask for more), and of course lots of unique little things for myself!
I'm in love with quality natural fibres, especially when you put a lot of time and effort making something, naturally you want the best material. Like many people I start with Rowan and Debbie Bliss, which is very well known and great quality, but after spend hundreds and hundreds I get to the stage to start searching around for alternatives.
I found out about DROPS from professional makers produce quality items. I made my first order for their baby alpaca silk yarn, and fell in love ever since.
I tried every line of their product over the months and they never fail to surprise me with joy, the price is a lot lower and the quality is simply the best!! And there are thousands of free patterns on their website to inspire your next project! http://www.garnstudio.com
It was my grandma used to knit me sweaters, I never forget that warm feeling of love in every stitch, it's so precious and delicate, I hope it will not end here because of machine and technology take over in this century.
Sept 2014, I decided to become a DROPS retailer and share my finding with all of you with same passion like me.
