he K2 Coomback 114 is named for and inspired by K2 athlete and spiritual guide Doug Coombs, who lived his life in the winter backcountry (especially La Grave). K2 lightens the core by mixing super-light paulownia wood with durable maple. All K2 Backside models are lightweight torsion-box constructions on wood cores, with carbon and fiberglass reinforcement. HybriTech Sidewall construction combines a sturdy vertical sidewall underfoot for edge grip, lightweight cap fore and aft for supple flex. K2's All-Terrain Rocker combines 70 percent camber with 30 percent tip/shovel rocker to smooth the ride, enhance forgiveness and improve soft-snow flotation. Snowphobic topsheets are chemically treated to shed snow that would otherwise add weight on ascents. All Backside skis have removeable tip and tail grommets for easy attachment of K2 Z-Clip climbing skins.

If you skied the old Coomback, you'll notice that the new Coomback 114 is easier to turn, has better edge hold and versatility. It is specifically designed for touring and backcountry exploration, and of course, FUN!
