Beneficial bacteria colonise on the ceramic media and help remove waste from the water. The media has an extremely high surface area making it the ultimate material for biological filtration. Media can also be used for decorative purposes.



Over time the filter media can become blocked and effectiveness can reduce. Replacing the material every year or so or simply adding to existing media will help maintain effective filtration. Never replace more than one third of the media at one time and wait a month before replacing more. Wash before use.
