I used both - a solid wood wedge with epoxy and a metal wedge for setting the head.

I custom made the Sheath out of Premium Leather, custom fitted specifically for this axe. An image of a mountain and birds make a nice complement to the whole tool.
The Sheath protects you from accidental cuts and makes it safer during handling.

The handle is custom carved out of one piece of solid Black Locust (Acacia). Acacia is premium, very hard wood and perfect for these kinds of tools.
A Bear is carved out on both sides of the handle along with his tracks. I hand oil-painted the Bear and tracks. Check out the photos - it’s so unique and beautiful. I get emails of gratitude and appreciation from customers who purchased similar type of axes/hatchets - complementing and appreciating the unique workmanship and art. I hand sanded the handle to a very nice, smooth texture.

The handle has a very comfortable custom grip design and it fits perfectly in adult handle.

A layer of stain was applied to give the hatchet a beautiful look. In addition, I applied two separate layers of professional grade Behlen Rockhard Urethane Varnish.

This can be great for hiking, camping, collection.
