Let's begin by saying that this kit lens is in EXCELLENT, VIRTUALLY UNUSED condition.

On a DX camera, the range 18-55mm covers everything from wide angle (particularly good for close up snaps of families indoors), to a moderate telephoto (perfect for individual portraits as it allows you to get further away and therefore blur the background with a large F-stop (f3.5)).  In-between, the lens is great for snap shots while out and about etc.  This is why the manufacturers often bundle a kit lens like this with a camera body.

There's lots of other reasons why this is a good first lens.

There's also lots of body-only cameras on offer on eBay, and if you're tempted to get a DSLR it can be a LOT cheaper to buy the two separately.

Nikon use the nomenclature of DX to signify their slightly smaller sensor cameras, and FX to signify the full sensor models.  Most people beginning DSLR photography, right up to keen enthusiasts, will have a DX camera.  If you aren't sure then double check what your's is.  This lens is designed for the DX bodies.  If you used it on an FX camera you'd get dark corners (known as vignetting).

I have recently upgraded my camera body to an FX, but am keeping the original as a second one in case of emergency.  As I have a 35mm prime lens for the FX system, I don't need this one.

I always protect the front element of my lenses with an ultraviolet filter and this one is no exception - it will be sent with it attached.  (If the unimaginable happened, and a lens was scratched, then it only costs £5 to replace the filter, which is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole lens.)

The starting price will be set according to eBay's advice and the auction will run to completion.

Happy bidding.
