Do you love old computers? Computers from the 80's and early 90's? Do you love playing games, using applications and getting nostalgic? Do you wish that you could add a hard drive to a computer that doesn't or didn't support one? Do you wish that your one-of-a-kind MFM or proprietary interface hard drive hadn't quit working? Perhaps you wish to preserve that pristine drive, by not wearing out the media? Do you wish you could push DOS 6.22 to the limit with a 2GB partition (memory card allowing)? Then this little device is your solution!
It has a boot ROM built in, so your computer knows to boot from this device. No magic drivers or overlays required. Its use is not just limited to XTs, either! With the proper settings, it can work in nearly any computer with an ISA slot, 8 or 16 bit; it works in an AT as well as it does in a XT, making file transfers a cinch!

This is a very "DIY" open-source device, so be prepared to learn a LOT if you aren't already an 80's/90's computer wizard!

Since this item is of a VERY TECHNICAL NATURE, it does not include any manuals, guides, or anything of the sort. It is up to YOU to ensure that it is compatible with your particular system(s)/drive(s)/card(s)/etc. Guys and gals, if you can't even do a simple Google search for "XT-CF-Lite <computer model/type>" to determine compatibility, you have no business playing with old computers (sorry, but it's the truth)! Be prepared to learn how to configure and flash an EEPROM via the XTIDECFG utility, as well as understanding potential conflicts and learning how to resolve them (such as: dirty slots, conflicts with MIDI or Ethernet cards, oddball BIOSes that require a particularly weird boot ROM range, buggy BIOSes, memory-map conflicts, etc...).

Special Note: IBM 5170's require a BIOS upgrade to an AMI or AWARD BIOS to utilize this card, due to a weird incompatibility. It's simple, requiring 2 27c256 EPROMS (yes, the UV erase ones) and a programmer. If you need assistance with this after purchasing, contact me and I can help!

Brand new USA hand made. Each item is tested in a real XT (IBM Model 30, 8086) before shipping.

The XT-CF-Lite 4.1's are SUPER PICKY about what CF card you use. I recommend ONLY using SansDisk Ultra 30mb/s 2GB CF cards (SDCFH-002G-A11), or Kingston Elite Pro 133x 2GB (no MPN) cards. These cards support 8bit transfer modes AND 5v logic. Other cards seem to work intermittently due to data corruption (Transcend, WinSystems, and SiliconDrive, to name a few)

Thanks for looking!
