Replacement switching diodes for FT-847
This is a set of replacement diodes used in the RX bandpass filter matrix.
These are 1N5711-1 HI-REL devices which are closely matched.The kit comprises 25 x 1N5711-1 diodes (20 are required to replace the entire HF BPF section).
The original 1SS83 diodes that are used in the FT-847 are normal silicon planar diodes and can behave as noise generators when reverse biased.
Schottky diodes do not exhibit this behavior and typically a S/N improvement in the order of 3-4dB is measurable in the frequency range 20-70MHz.
