Beautiful 1966 P Bass in original (custom color) Olympic White Finish. Very nice shape for its age - some dings, scratches and finish wear here and there, but overall great condition for being 51 years old! The original nitrocellulose finish doesn't have a lot of yellowing like some do from this era, but has turned a nice cream color over time. There's also finish checking on the body and neck headstock.
This bass comes certified all original with a letter from Gruhn's Guitars in Nashville, valuing it at $8000. The stamp on the butt of the neck isn't visible (and the Gruhn letter mentions they've seen other examples like this). The neck pocket has the paint stick mark as it should, and I've uploaded pics of the neck (removed) under a black light where you can see the finish "shadows" under the tuners, and where the body's neck pocket covers the neck heel - This is to show how the exposed finish has aged more than the unexposed areas (this is only visible under a black light when a nitrocellulose finish has aged for several decades).
The bass plays and sounds absolutely fantastic! The neck is straight and the truss rod functions fine. The action is low and the playability is smooth all across the board with no dead notes anywhere. The frets are all original and in great shape with lots of life left. Everything is 100% original down to the last screw, including the case (also in nice shape - structurally sound and all latches work, just the logo is partially broken off). No mods, no repairs, no cracks, no issues.
