An ultra-telephoto zoom lens covering a telephoto range up
to 500mm, incorporating Sigma’s original OS (Optical Stabilizer)
function.
This ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range
up to 500mm and allows photographers to bring the subject close with
short perspective. Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements
provide excellent correction for chromatic aberration. This lens is
equipped with a rear focus system that minimizes fluctuation of
aberration caused by focusing. HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), ensures a quiet
and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focusing capability. It is
also possible to attach the optional APO Tele Converters.
Sigma's own unique OS (Optical Stabilizer) technology
The
lens is equipped with Sigma’s own unique OS (Optical Stabilizer)
function. This function uses two sensors inside the lens to detect
vertical and horizontal movement of the camera and works by moving an
optical image stabilizer lens group to effectively compensate for camera
shake. It offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops
slower. Mode 1 is ideal for general photography, and Mode 2 is effective
on moving subject such as motor sports etc.
*Pentax and Sony mounts are not incorporated with OS function.
Telephoto range up to 500mm
This
ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and
allows photographers to freely play with the ability of telephoto lenses
to ring the subject closer and shorten perspective. The OS (Optical
Stabilizer) function provides stable images though the viewfinder and
enables the photographer to easily determine the composition with the
narrow angle of view. A removable tripod socket (TS-31) is included,
which is convenient for handheld photography.
Minimum focusing distance of 220cm (86.6”) and maximum magnification of 1:5.2
This
lens has a minimum focusing distance of 220cm (86.6”) throughout the
entire zoom range. It is convenient for taking close-up pictures. It
is possible to enjoy taking close up pictures of small or large
subjects.
Excellent Optical Performance
Three SLD
(Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide the correction for axial
chromatic aberration. The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and
ghosting. This lens is equipped with a rear focus system that minimizes
fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing. High image quality is
assured throughout the entire zoom range.
HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor)
This
lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and
high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focus override by rotation of
the focus ring.
*AF will not function if the Sony and Pentax camera bodies do not support HSM.
APO Tele-Converter (Optional)
The
addition of the (optional) 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele
Converters produce a 210-700mm F7-8.8 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a
300-1000mm F10-12.6 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively. A
removable tripod socket (TS-31) is included as a standard component.

This is an ultra-telephoto zoom lens that allows photographers to freely play with the ability of telephoto lenses to bring the subject closer and shorten perspective. It is equipped with Sigma’s own Camera Shake Compensation OS (Optical Stabiliser) System, so handheld photography is worry-free. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass is used for superior correction of chromatic aberrations, and the rear focusing system effectively corrects for fluctuation of aberration due to focusing. The lens is equipped with HSM for fast AF speeds and quiet shooting, and is capable of full-time manual focus override. It also accommodates optional APO Tele Converters
