B&W Bowers & Wilkens DM2 Series ll  LoudSpeaker System (pair) w/plinth stands

 

This B&W DM2 Series II matched pair 3-driver loudspeaker system of 47 litres capacity sounds great, is in excellent condition and comes with matching B&W plinth stands that screw into brass threads built into the bottom of the speakers.

Manufactured in Worthington, England, they have real walnut veneer cabinets that incorporate well into existing furniture.

 

There is a separate enclosure for the tweeter, extremely well constructed and braced cabinets. These speakers handle 25 to 200 watts of power. The DM2 has a high quality cross over network.

B&W promoted these speakers as a true studio monitor and IIRC stated that "they were an exceptionally revealing design and needed to be partnered with components of a similar quality".

I am the original owner and paired these speakers with some very clean sounding Luxman components.

 Both speakers are in excellent working condition. All drivers work flawlessly. No pushed-in speakers, no broken dust caps, no broken surroundings. Original connections in back. 

Cosmetically speaking these speakers look great overall. Some minor imperfections, light surface scratches. One speaker has 2 small corner dings. There is also a very small gouge on one speaker side...not very noticeable from a distance.  One plinth has a couple of very small dings largely unnoticeable as they are near the floor. Some scratches on bottom of speaker but you never see them when in use.

Speakers are very clean and from a non-smoking home. Please review description and look at the pictures before buying, you will get what you see in the pictures. No warranty or returns. Please ask me any questions you may have before you buy. These are my speakers, a "large investment for me" at the time and thus were very well cared for!

The DM2 Series II offers a wide horizontal dispersion and excellent vertical dispersion within a listening window of approximately 10° in the vertical plane and 40° in the horizontal.

Drive Units
High-frequency driver 3kHz to 20kHz: a 25mm multi-filament weave polyester dome unit, critically damped with PVA compounds

Mid-range driver 400Hz to 3kHz: handled by a 100mm unit housed in a separate enclosure - critically damped with long haired natural wool and completely isolated from the bass unit

 
Bass Driver 35Hz to 400Hz : housed in a critically vented enclosure. Has a crossover point of 400 Hz. A long throw motor system on the bass driver giving a free excursion of 20MM, ensures safe high level low frequency performance.
