Vintage Solid Bronze & Aluminum Gothic Sculptured Chess by Ganine (Salon Edition)
This is a really rare and unique partial (13 piece) Ganine Gothic chess set hand cast in bronze and copper. The set came from an estate here in California. The pawns are approximately 1-5/8” and the kings are approximately 3-3/8” tall. Based on my research, I am pretty sure that the partial set I have listed here is from the same maker as a set that sold here on eBay for $568.78 on October 4, 2012 (see the description below).
"Handmade Mid-century modern vintage solid bronze & chrome Peter Ganine chess set This set was acquired from descendants of the original maker, a machinist and die tooler, who created this set in the early 1960s. According to them, it was made as a prototype with the intention of finding a catalog distributor, which never happened. It is clear that the pieces are of the same design as Peter Ganine's Gothic salon edition chess pieces and were perhaps cast using one of his sets as the mold. These hand cast pieces consist of solid bronze and chromed steel, and are quite heavy. The king alone is approximately 12 ounces. When we purchased this set, we were able to view other pieces for additional sets in different metals in various states of completion and in an unfinished state (some with flashing still evident from the casting process). These additional pieces were unavailable for purchase."

Payment Instructions: I generally send an invoice to the winning bidder within 24 hours from the auction's end. I accept Paypal. Other forms of payment may possibly be accepted upon buyer’s request (please check with me first). The buyer needs to confirm with me within 3 days from the end of the auction if the payment has not already been sent, and the payment is due within 7 days of winning auction. If you choose to pay through Paypal with an e-check as opposed to Paypal’s standard instant payment option, please be aware that it will delay the shipping process as e-checks do not clear for 3 to 4 days (sometimes even longer), and I am not able to ship your item before the e-check clears. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Shipping: See shipping details and select the shipping service option (if applicable) that is best for your needs. I end my listings on Sundays, and I generally ship once a week on Wednesdays, in order to allow my buyers some time to pay for their items. However, I will occasionally ship on Tuesday if all of my buyers have paid by then. Buyers that have not paid by Wednesday may end up having to wait until I ship the following week. That being said, it will still be shipped out within 5 business days of payment. I actually like to ship much quicker, but I have to be realistic and I can’t be running to the post office every day. So if it is really important to you that you get your item shipped out quickly, just pay quickly (by Tuesday). A note on combined shipping: If you happen to win more than one item, I am always happy to combine packaging (when possible) in order to reduce shipping charges and save you money. In addition, I am fine with local pick up, and there is never a pick up fee. Please just remind me as soon as you win so that I can adjust your invoice. Thank you.
Packing: I pack all items with care and attention to detail. Sometimes this requires me to get a little creative, and some of my packages may not be very pretty, but they will always be packed in a way to best protect the item.
Return Policy: Please read description thoroughly and ask any questions you may have before bidding, as ALL SALES ARE FINAL unless the item has been misrepresented. However, this is not likely to happen as I take multiple photos and I take the time to write detailed well researched descriptions. I must be notified of any claims within 48 hours from the time of delivery.
COMMUNICATION: I respond to all questions in a timely fashion, and if you ever need to contact me for any reason, the best way to reach me is to contact me directly through eBay’s messaging system. That way I see it in my eBay messages, and also as an email when eBay forwards it to my email. This is also the same way that I generally contact my customers when I need to reach them.
FEEDBACK: I have worked very hard to maintain a good feedback rating. I spend a great deal of time putting my listings together, and I always try to focus on good customer service. I treat each transaction with the same attention to detail, whether it is for $1.00 or $1000.00. In the end, I always appreciate getting positive feedback, and I like giving positive feedback as well. In the past, I would always leave the buyer positive feedback as soon as they paid for their item. However, I recently stopped doing that because of the buyers that do not seem to have the time or interest in bothering to leave feedback, even though they are happy with the item and the transaction. As a result, I do things a little different now. I now ask that when you receive your item that you please confirm its arrival and your satisfaction with the transaction by leaving me positive feedback. I will then quickly return positive feedback your way. In the unlikely event that there is some kind of problem with your transaction, please let me know first, so that I can address your concerns. That being said, if you read, understand and follow the above terms, there really should be no problems.
