Product Information
The Nikon FG-20 is a well-designed 35-millimeter SLR camera that is both compact and lightweight. Without a lens, the body weighs about 1 pound. It measures 2.13 by 3.46 by 5.35 inches. This Nikon model is great for beginners who are learning to work with film cameras. It is also convenient for the experienced user who travels with photography gear. From 1984 through 1986, this variant of the original Nikon FG led the market in entry-level cameras. It was easy to operate and ideal for practicing basic techniques while still producing top-quality photos. Today, this Nikon camera continues to meet the needs of photographers. The mechanisms of the Nikon FG-20 work together in a reliable yet quiet manner. Whether you are using autofocus or manual focus, you'll benefit from the camera's matte Fresnel lens focusing screen. It comes equipped with a big and bright central split-image rangefinder and micro prism collar. A large number of Nikkor and Nikon Series E lenses will function well with this camera. With a Nikon F interchangeable lens mount, the FG-20 is compatible with many modern lenses as well as some early manual-focus F-mount lenses. Modification may be necessary, however, when using lens models from the 1960s and 1970s. This Nikon camera's exposure control system features aperture priority automatic exposure. It includes a manual override option and backup mechanical ability. Since the structure is designed with center-weighted metering, it is excellent for close-up portraits. The camera is also good for low-light situations. While working in auto mode, you can set the speed dial on the green sound icon and subsequently press the shutter button down halfway. If your shutter speed is not within the appropriate range of 1/30 to 1/1000 seconds, the camera will give you an audible warning. The electronically controlled shutter is a vertical-travel, metal focal plane type. In both manual and automatic exposure modes, the shutter speeds range from 1 to 1/1000. In the M90 and B settings, the shutter is controlled mechanically at 1/90. When you use a Nikon dedicated flash unit and you have the camera in autoexposure mode, the flash syncs itself to 1/90 seconds. The ready light, which looks like a thunderbolt, comes on when the Nikon dedicated flash unit has finished its recycling process. The ready signal is located on the left side of the viewfinder. A hot shoe can be found on the FG-20's top plate. Since you have the option to add a motor drive MD-14 or MD-E winder, your film can advance and rewind automatically. This distinct Nikon camera has an additive-type frame counter that resets itself. The window is situated on the extreme right side of the top plate. All of the controls on the metal plates are strategically placed for your convenience. On the left front cover, you'll find an exposure compensation button that provides +2 EV compensation. Simply keep the button pressed while snapping your photo. The battery compartment is on the bottom plate, and the back panel is hinged for easy access.
