What You Are Getting:

This is an auction for a brand-new, freshly cut 5x9 foot piece Dupont Tyvek Home Wrap, which is PERFECT for ultralight backing groundcloths. You can easily cut it with scissors to your perfect size. You can put it under your tent, or sleep directly on it under a tarp or under the stars. It also makes good tarp material. If you trim off the length, you can save a 1x1 foot piece for a "sit pad" for muddy days or whenever. It saves the seat of your pants a lot of dirt and wear and tear, and it weighs practically nothing.

One side is pure white, and one side has the large printing. I usually turn the printing to the ground and keep the white side up.

It's kind of stiff when it's new, but gets soft after it's broken in. You can wash it in a front-loading machine to make it softer ... just be sure you line dry it.

Here is my sleeping bag on a Tyvek Ground Cloth. I usually turn the printed side down.

Bonus:  Free ultralight backpacking article!!

All orders will receive a free article I wrote on ultralight backpacking.  You will learn how some people are hiking *very* long distances with total pack weights of less than 9 pounds!! (Before adding the food and water).

It's amazing how much better it feels to move through the wilderness with an ultralight pack ... it feels like a bookbag.  You are much more free to move around and explore your surroundings, go off-trail, do whatever you want.

With a heavy pack, you plod ahead on the trail with your head down, grunting though the workload.  With an ultralight pack, your head is up, your breathing is normal, and your step is much lighter.

And it doesn't have to be expensive!!!  Most of the ultralight equipment is less expensive than the heavy stuff, and is so much more enjoyable.  My article even links to websites showing you how to make your own gear.  I also include some professional drawings for my own designs -- backpack and sleeping quilt.

This article will give you all the information you need to get started in ultralight backpacking, covering the following topics:
