BMW E28 528e/ E30 325e limited slip differential, 2.79 ratio, stock 25% lockup

 

This is a used and in good working condition E30 528e limited slip differential.  I removed this from a mid '80s CA parts car with unknown miles.  The input shaft bearing feels like new and the diff is in great shape, with no leaks.   

 

Comes with no rear cover.  You will need to install yours and seal it with silicone or similar.

 

I have cleaned this unit to look as it does in the photos.  The rear cover was removed to inspect the ring and pinion gear and inner workings for abnormal wear.  The ring gear and spool are quite clean.  There is a slight patina of surface rust on some of the gear teeth.  This is from sitting out at my shop.  It easily wipes off, so this is a non-issue.  The case has moderate rust, not common to CA cars.  I did not paint the outside to make it look new like other seller do.  This is the real deal - no gunk or residues, suggesting this is a well cared for diff, with the oil changed according to BMW recommendations.   Be assured, this diff is in great shape and will not whine!  I've sold hundreds of used LSDs to happy owners and won't try to pass off a worn out diff on anyone.  It takes experience to evaluate these units, so you can trust my description.  Comes with 90 day warranty.

 

This diff will fit all E28 5 series and E24 six series, except the M cars, all 6 cylinder E30s, the E30 M3, and E23 7 series cars from about '83 on.  The ratio is perfect in an E30 or E28 with an ETA engine or an overly powered i motor.  This is the medium size case with a 188 mm ring gear, and to make it fit your car, you just have to swap the rear cover and perhaps the pop-in drive flanges.  Its that simple.
