SILVERTONE COLLECTORS!!!

This is a 1940 Silvertone Maestro Guitar.

One Year ONLY!! Very few made.

The guitar is Carved Maple back, Maple sides.

Maple neck and carved solid spruce top.

Arched front and back.

Fretboard and bridge are roswood, all original

Mother of pearl inlays, Bakelite engraved pickguard.

Celluloid bindings

The lines on neck start at the dot marker down to the end of the fretboard.

(kinda art decco??)

There are marks on the guitar, but no deep gouges.

Pic 9 shows the binding has a small break, not coming off though.

Pic 4 shows some shrinkage of binding but not coming off.

Most of The tuners on this guitar were gone so they HAD to be replaced. We came as close as We could

with original style gears no new screw holes or reaming of post holes (Thanks allparts for all Your help with this project)

Also had Our in shop Luthier cut a new bone nut for it.

The guitar sounds great and plays very well. Built for orcastra & big band sound.

Last three pics are from Sears catalog showing the guitar not in 1939 or 1941 ad, only in 1940.

(Thanks Silvertoneworld.net for helping with the research on that)

I've been into vintage guitars over 40 yrs now and have NEVER seen one of these before.

The gentleman at silvertoneworld.net said the same thing!!

So this IS rare!

I can only hope I'm in this good of shape when I'am 72 years old.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!
