This is a good choice if you want something small and with light padding that doesn't look much like a camera bag. The bag itself has little padding except for a good solid panel in the bottom (which flips up so the bag can be packed flat when empty). The removable camera insert fits a small SLR with a small-mid lens. My D70 only just fits - a slightly larger DSLR might be too big, and a pro size camera or one with an add-on grip definitely won't fit.
The insert's padding is lightweight. If you want something with half-inch-thick heavy foam, this is not the bag for you. It's certainly adequate for normal use though, and I much prefer a less bulky bag like this one. It's definitely not a rigid, boxy beginner's type of camera bag - this sits and looks more like an old canvas shoulder bag.

I was able to squeeze in a D70 with 18-70mm dx lens (with the hood mounted for use), SB-28 flash, a spare 50mm f1.8 lens, a water bottle and small raincoat in the main compartment - though the last was pushing it. The two main front zippered pockets are useful for cards, filters, notepad etc. 

There's also a small pocket at the back of the main compartment and a zippered pocket accessible from the outside that will hold small flat items like a passport, notebook or papers.

The "small camera pouch" that came as a free bonus is of similar construction. It's perhaps a little big for the current generation of slimline compact cameras, but with its strap removed it can be attached to the loops on the side of the shoulder bag and used to carry a small camera, flash or PDA.
