Sourcing these parts individually online plus trips to the local hardware store can easily exceed $200

or more especially if you buy the wrong parts the first time.

Buy everything here and save a lot of time and money!

*NEW* I am now offering a step down and power block as a $15 addon.

These parts allow for a very easy and clean way to install 12v accessories

and is a great way to solve the 24v vs 12v problem for these installs.

The step down converts the 24v indicator power (power source after key-on used for accessories) to 12v.

Then the power block makes distributing that power easy.

This power block is unique in that it is already internally connected which makes accessory hook up a breeze.

Please see the auction photos for a picture.

See this video for more info (start at 6:20).

Please note that these parts are optional since the relays and buzzer in the kit can handle to up 24v.

If you would like these parts please make me an offer for $15 over the Buy-It-Now price.

WHAT IS AN ESC SYSTEM?

ESC (Electronic Scooter Controller) System replaces the stock electronics in your Power Wheels with scooter components which includes a variable foot throttle which allows you to safely run higher voltage with more speed but something most overlook: smoother operation and much better driver control! An ESC system will completely change a Power Wheels operation and allows for a more capable but also more controllable machine. More details on the benefits are below or check out this quick video that shows the versatility of an ESC system:

-THE BENEFITS OF THIS SYSTEM-

HIGHER VOLTAGE/MORE SPEED

The most common reason to install this system is the ability to run higher voltage without destroying parts. If you attempt to install 24 volts in a stock system the motors will most likely overheat and melt and the gear boxes will be destroyed (ask me how I know this). It may be fun for a while (it was), but the fun will not last. With an ESC system, the gradual/smoother acceleration will lead to a longer gearbox life and also typically allow to safely run motors up to 24 volts. If you are upgrading to 775 Banebot motors please contact me for a Banebot installation kit which includes the required spacers and hardware ($5 additional).

MORE DRIVER CONTROL

Instead of the stock on/off throttle and automatic braking when the rider lifts off the accelerator, the ESC system allows the Power Wheels to rev up or down smoothly and coast which is easier on the gearboxes and smooths out the ride. The system also reuses the stock pedal and a DPDT relay (included) to brake by connecting the motors together (this is the same way the factory system brakes but this system uses resistors to soften the braking effect). Separating these controls allows more advanced driver techniques and more fun!

IS THIS KIT SAFE?
Yes! The kit includes a circuit breaker, a brake relay, a speed governor, back-up indicator and a proven controller. If this setup was not safe we (the modding community) would NOT install and use them with our kids!! In many ways this system is safer than the factory setup at 18+ volts. Specifically the controllable variable throttle instead of the neck-jerking factory on/off throttle, the audible back-up indicator which reminds which drive mode is active and the speed governor which controls the top end speed.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED:

Batteries (~$50): You will need (2) 12 volt batteries (12ah is the most common capacity, see  eBay item number: 140889872323 as an example) Re-using the factory PW batteries is not recommended since they have an internal fuse.

Charger (~$12): 24v scooter charger with female connection (see  eBay item number: 170607350132 as an example)

Installation Tools (Wire stripper/crimper, solder iron, multimeter, etc)

WHY BUY FROM ME?
The kit contains quality parts that have been proven to work, and work together over time. No need to shop around for hours and then run around town hoping the parts you buy will be compatible or find out on your first ride that something is not going to hold up. Many have installed these parts and proven that they will work together reliably in your ride. If any problems arise I have extra parts on hand and can ship replacements for lost or damaged parts the same day (no waiting 2 weeks for parts to come from overseas or not come at all). Although I strongly recommend reading and/or posting on the modified power wheels forum feel free to send questions at any time. If you get stuck, do not panic! I recommend posting on the forum or you can message me. To date I have a 100% install success rate.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Please indicate if you would like a metal or plastic pedal during checkout in the Buy-Now notes/comment section. They are both tough and work the same but the angles of operation and mounting bases are slightly different and the best pedal depends on the application. The plastic pedal mounts flush to the floor and has a straight travel and the metal pedal mounts partially below the floor and requires more cutting. Personally I use the plastic pedal when the riders knee is bent (truck/SUV) and the metal pedal when the riders leg is straight (car). For more pedal information please see this video.

MY GUARANTEE:

I 100% guarantee that this kit will meet your expectations. If you are not 100% happy I will accept a refund of entire kits that have not been installed or partial refunds for individual parts that have not been installed. If you do not anticipate using a part please make me an offer before you buy and specify which part(s) you do not need. Regarding returns, generally if you make a mistake (change your mind, etc) you pay for return shipping, if I make a mistake I will cover all shipping.

WHO AM I?

I am an eBay P0WER Seller on eBay since 1999. I have committed myself to ship my items on the same day (typically in the hands of USPS within a few hours) and I make myself available 16 hours a day to answer questions or handle problems. I will do everything I can to provide faster shipping and better service than sellers that sell these parts individually for MORE $!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

(Q) Are instructions included with this kit?

(A) I provide a wiring diagram and an installation video. Installation varies based on the car but basically you remove most if not all of the factory wiring, place your components as close together as possible in the car where they fit and make the appropriate connections as per the diagram. I recommend using the diagram in the photo section of this page. Please refer to the relay key in the auction photos to associate which poles of the relay correspond with the diagram (7&8=Coil, 5&6=COM, 3&4=NO, 1&2=NC). Installation time varies based on installer experience but typically takes 4-6 hours. If you are confused at any point don't panic, you are welcome to contact me for help but I strongly recommend searching and reading on the Modified Power Wheels forums and/or start a new thread on the forum when appropriate. If you look at the entire diagram for the first time it probably will be overwhelming. Break it down and take it one connection at a time.

(Q) What do I use as the brake pedal?

(A) Typically the factory pedal is reused as the brake pedal (which is a SPDT switch) but any switch can be used to trigger the brake relay (such as a button on the steering wheel).

(Q) Do I need to upgrade the stock motors/gearboxes?

(A) Over-volting the factory brushed 12v motors to 24v is possible but longevity depends on motor airflow, duration of constant use, rider weight, terrain type, etc. It is possible to do this but whenever possible upgrading the motors is recommended. Personally I upgrade to Banebot 18v 775 motors which are extremely powerful and durable. These motors require shims (for the older #7 gearboxes) and new hardware to work with the factory gearboxes, if you need these parts please add $5 to the kit price and make me an offer.

(Q) Why does the schematic not use the brake connection/function on the controller?

(A) In the past there have been controller failures when the controller brake function was used. Although this occurred with a different model motor controller than what is included in the kit, it is now common practice to use a relay to control braking and completely avoid the controller braking function which in the end allows fine tuning of the braking softening and brake reliability. Upgrading older #7 gearboxes (with white gears) to newer #7R gearboxes (with orange gears) is recommended but not necessary. For more motor and gearbox information please see this video.

(Q) Is the kit difficult to install?

(A) No. Although the diagram is sometimes overwhelming to new modders it is not difficult to install the kit. Just break it down and make one connection at a time. If you get stuck at any point or are confused feel free to contact me and I will help you through the process. To do a clean and reliable install the process will take some time but it is not difficult to complete and once you understand the system you can customize it to make it your own.
