The addiction of an aerial will help with range, at 315MHz, a quarter wave aerial would be approximately 23.8CM. If you want to interface the receiver to a Raspberry Pi you will need to drop the output logic to a safe level, which could be achieved with some resistors. There are several Arduino libraries available.
