Summary:

 

Here is a superb quality Tudor style solid dark brown solid oak & other hardwood carved full tester (four poster bed) showing exceptional workmanship, circa late 20th century.  This is an exceptional quality bed finished in a dark brown oak colour. The bed features a solid carved full tester (four poster bed) design, which is in the style of the English Tudor period, which dates between 1500 to 1530.  This bed shows exceptional craftsmanship; having been handmade from a combination of predominantly solid oak & other hardwoods.  All panels are detachable for ease of assembly.  This beds fits a standard UK super king size mattress (6ft wide x 6ft 6” long).

 

The headboard dismantles into panels to allow easy access up narrow staircases or through doorways.  The headboard is constructed of several floral hand carved panels, predominantly sunflowers and roses; interspersed with guilloche, acanthus leaf and punch work rails.  The bed displays a recessed panel roof with a central floral lozenge panel, flanked by a protruding canopy.  The footboard boasts carved floral panels enriched with punch work flanked by formal strapwork arabesque rails defined by a sunken matted ground.  Two floral carved fluted posts support the canopy above the bed.  The footboard corner blocks features profuse grape vine floral carvings.  The side rails features carved scroll panels interspersed by further flanked by formal strapwork arabesque rails defined by a sunken matted ground. 

 

This bed is accentuated with style, romance and tradition. The impression created by this bed will without doubt be a memorable one as they are genuinely unique and recreate the ultimate in luxury of a bygone age.

 

This bed is not to be confused with other four-poster beds of lesser quality in the market place today.  This is bed is hand made; with hand carved panels, unlike other machine carved beds.  The design, build quality and superstructure (thickness of panels) are of superior and exceptional quality.  It is an extremely heavy bed!


Condition Report:

This bed is in excellent condition.  It is an extremely well constructed, heavy, solid and stable bed. There are no veneers on this bed either.  It is a hand carved bed (not machined carved like other cheaper inferior beds).  The polish is also in excellent condition.  This bed is of superior quality compared to other reproduction beds in the market place today.  This item is solid in joint and ready to use.
