This is a great example of the famous Ludwig jazz festival. (5"&4/16ths x14")

Mahogany/poplar and clear maple interior, three ply shell with rock maple re-rings. Original rounded bearing edges

This drum dates from 1969 and has had a little work over its long years of service (please read below).

I purchased this drum for myself personally around 10 years ago when it was in its original red sparkle wrap. Around 5 years ago the 'Let It Be' Beatles show in London's Westend approached me to source some original era drums including the jazz festival Snare drum on a loan basis, due to the urgency I subsequently used my own drum which we re-wrapped in black oyster pearl (the original wrap came off leaving a very clean, flat shell) . This drum was used on the show for the tour and sounded fantastic!! On its return to me I was made an offer to sell the drum. The customer eventually decided to have the drum re finished again but this time with a very thin vaneer of maple and hand finished in a vintage stain to match his original vintage kit. This as you can see has been done very well, the drum looks and still sounds great!

The P83 strainer and other chrome parts on the drum are all still the originals and are in very good condition (with only a few marks and pits as shown in the pictures) especially considering it's 48 years of service!

The keystone badge #707845 is the original too and has been re-fitted with a new grommet.

The original round tone control was removed and the holes left un-pierced as can be seen in the picture. An original could easily be refitted.

1969 was a good year for the quality of Ludwig drums. The panic stricken production created by the Beatle boom early on in the 60's had begun to calm and Ludwig were back to building drums with care and attention.

This drum is a good example of the quality of drum from that era. A drum to own and play that will only ever gain in value.
