Offered for your consideration is a Boston Acoustics 19mm (¾”) dome tweeter removed from an A40 speaker made c.1985. This high frequency driver may have been used in other Boston models from this era as well. So, please take a look at the large photos and read the remaining description to decide if this capable tweeter is correct for your needs.

This Boston tweeter is in clean, excellent condition. The radiating surface is perfect having been well-protected behind the acoustically transparent grate. Plus, the plastic faceplate is in great shape with no cracks or noteworthy scratches. Also, the +/- terminals are marked for polarity and have never been soldered on the spades. This high frequency driver looks practically new!

Most importantly, it’s been fully tested and sounds very strong, clear, with plenty of ‘sparkle’ carrying to a full 20kHz. Plus, it’s rated to 40 watts as crossed over at 3.5kHz in the A40. And, I tested the DC resistance at 5.9-6.0Ω consistent with a nominal 6 ohm driver rating. Lastly, the faceplate measures 2⅞” diameter, it stands roughly ½” tall, and the three mounting holes are equally spaced 2 1/16” apart, c-t-c.

This is a nice find if your Boston A40 or other suitable model has a blown tweeter and will have your speakers sounding their best again. Long discontinued, it’s a great spare to have around just in case. As pictured and described, this great condition Boston Acoustics ¾” dome tweeter is offered at a competitive price.
