In the old days when a mouthpiece company offered you a new mouthpiece, they offered you a NEW design...not a copy of an existing model.

Look at the big 6 pioneers from 70 or so years ago----Otto Link, Selmer, Brilhart, Meyer, Dukoff, and Berg Larsen. 

These companies designed completely different mouthpieces than each other, and players really had a FULL selection of new ORIGINAL designs to choose from to get themselves the sound they desire. 

I REALLY RESPECT THAT GREATLY, AND THAT HAS BEEN MY INSPIRATION FOR MY 10MFAN™ MOUTHPIECE LINE!

Today, a guy with no knowledge of mouthpiece design can get to a CNC machine, copy a vintage model, put a new shell for the outside with a new name on it, and voila, he is a "mouthpiece maker". I find this highly disrespectful to the real originators of mouthpiece designs. 

Look at how many copies there are of Slants, Early Babbitts, Meyer Bros altos, Meyer NY USA altos, Guardalas, Florida STM's, Double Rings, Berg Larsens, Brilharts, Selmer Soloists, etc, etc...

Its so sad to see what has happened, and the same thing has happened with saxophone making also. Look at the big 5 saxophone makers over the last 80 or so years. The vintage Conns, Selmers, Bueschers, Martins, and Kings all offered players ORIGINALITY and a real difference in horns.

This ROBUSTO is a killer playing 7* which measures .105. It was designed to outplay the vintage Slant and Early Babbitt Links, and for me it does that, by a ton. It's got the warmth, but more fullness, fatness, and power for me. It can be played warm or with more punch and grit depending on your skills. Reed choice will also affect the sound color of my mouthpieces greatly, so you can really dial in what you specifically want as a player with simple reed changes. This has a moderate baffle with a nice large chamber. The floor drops down after the baffle, so it might appear deceptively like a higher baffle mouthpiece, but its not even remotely close to that at all. The baffle from the side view is not high at all. Its all in the design!
