Vintage FIN NOR 10/0 big game fishing reel – Legacy period, 1945-47

 

Available is an exceedingly rare FIN NOR big game reel,

in size 10/0, from the Legacy period. Probably made

in the 1945-47 time period; before the Korean War.

 

I believe that there were fewer than five (5) total

of these 10/0 reels manufactured in this time period,

and this is probably the only one ever on EBay. 

 

This reel is probably the only 1945-47 Fin Nor 10/0 to ever

be made available to the general public.

lever drag.

 

Comes with an equipment bag of vinyl and leather,

which will accept the reel, and associated gear. 

The bag is in the Fin Nor style.

 

This reel is in very nice original condition.  The

condition is remarkable for a reel almost seventy (70)

years old.

 

It may have been fished, and it has been handled,

but it may have never been disassembled.

 

The colors are a little unusual for FIN NOR.  One expects

To see a “gold” anodized aluminum finish, but the

Legacy period reels were made in silver, red, black and

occasionally blue. 

 

This if the only reel of this type I have seen in this

color combination of 2-tone gray.  Some of the

photographs may show this color more vividly than

other pictures.

 

All of the pre-Korean War Fin Nor reels were hand-made

and often made to order for Big Game fishermen.

 

Many Famous fisherman, such as Ernest Hemingway,

Michael Lerner, Kip Farington, and Alfred Glassell are

mentioned with Fin Nor.

 

Very few reels made in the 1936-47 time period

are EXACTLY like another reel, even reels of the same

size and specification.

 

Thus, this particular reel is probably UNIQUE.
