There's something about Nikon equipment, you pick it up and you're instantly aware of the seminal images of our lifetime,captured by this wonderful, cherished equipment. Never is this more apparent than when looking at a Pro level period piece of kit such as this.
A Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens, offered in superb condition. The serial number dates it to mid 1973. Contemporary to the seminal Nikon F and F2 SLR bodies, this incredible lens is F Mount, so is compatible with Nikon Bodies made up to about 1980, plus the later F3/4/5/6, and of course the fabulous new Df! It is also a fantastic performer on modern digitals, I have used identical Nikkors mounted on my Canon DSLR's, Panasonic Gs, GFs, Olympus OMDs and my current Olympus EP-5, but it will also happily mount to the wonderful new Sony A7/r, Samsung NX, Sony NEX or Nikon 1 body with the appropriate adapter. Ironically, compatibility with Nikon DSLRs is mixed, it will mount in manual mode on some of the cheaper bodies, while it will require an AI conversion to work with a D200 or higher. Please contact me for advice for your specific camera.
This particular lens is in excellent condition. The vast, wide open glass is perfectly clear, as you can hopefully see in the pictures, while the focus and aperture rings move every bit as smoothly as you would hope. That massive optic has a gorgeous magenta coloured multicoating which shimmers in the light like a jewel. Despite the best efforts of the last 42 years, there are just a couple of motes of dust visible when held up to the daylight.
The lens will be supplied as pictured, with caps and ready for you to get to work immediately!
