This is an unusual and rare 1962 slab rosewood fretboard Stratocaster. What really makes this an unusual find is the combination of the gold plated parts and the hardtail (no vibrato) configuration. It is possible the guitar has had a professional refret. The frets appear to be a little larger than normal. Other than possibly frets, the guitar is completely stock. The original factory tags and polish cloth are still in the original brown tolex case pocket. Overall cosmetic condition is very good with lots of well earned playwear, chipped finish areas and lots of finish missing in some areas--see pictures. The original green guard is showing just a small amount of contraction but no cracks, still fits well and is completely flat. Original three way switch is still installed and the stackpole pots are dated the 18th week of 1962. The nut looks original but may have been changed at some point. The guitar is a light 7.45 pounds. The gold hardware has aged perfectly and now it suggests gold hardware and doesn't shout it. There a couple of deep nicks and an area where the finish is off the back which in my mind only adds to the allure of this incredible guitar. I say incredible because that is the word that comes to mind when you play it. Super smooth, comfortable and fluid neck that helps produce some of the most authentic vintage Fender Strat tones you will ever hear. I was blown away by this guitar. Now I know why some Strat players insist on playing the hardtail version (more wood= more sustain?). No disappointments with this one, you will not want to put it down. We will answer any and all questions, or call for an in hand description. This is a consignment and not eligible for returns. Contains Rosewood and can not be shipped outside the USA.
