RARE 1964 FORD CONSUL CAPRI - WHITE

I have owned this fantastic Ford Consul Capri since 2004 and it was last on the road in August 2015.  Changes in my circumstances mean that I am no longer able to give it the care and attention that it deserves.  My wife and I have enjoyed cruising around the South Coast in the Capri every summer and both of our children have used it as their wedding car.  This Capri has been a pleasure to own but now deserves to be passed to someone who can restore it back to good health.  We have many happy memories of the car in our photo album, including some pictures of the Capri when it was on display at the Ford Exhibition (as recorded in the May 2015 edition of FCCOC magazine).

I have done a lot of work on this car over the years and had every intention of continuing with its upkeep, but unfortunately some issues with the gearbox meant the Capri was taken off the road and personal circumstances have meant that it has remained in the garage untouched for the last couple of years.

Paper records with this sale include, old tax disc and previous M.O.Ts

It wouldn’t take too much work to get the Capri through an M.O.T.  It needs some welding to the spare wheel well and you will have a rolling project for the summer.  This may not be all that is required for the M.O.T but it is what I am currently aware of since l last looked round the car.

Further information:

·        The Capri starts, drives and stops.

·        The Capri is Tax Exempt but is currently SORN

·        The engine is a 1600 GT Crossflow but will need a re-build because the big ends are noisy.

·        The three rail semi close ratio 2000E gearbox jumps out of 3^rd gear, so this will also need some work.

·        I purchased the 3.77 diff as a re-built item and fitted it to the car myself, but it hasn’t been tested.

·        The seats are from a Metro Vanden Plas.  I had  intended to get a leather colour change kit to match the dashboard but never found the time.

Spares included in this sale are:

•  A replacement bonnet.  The original bonnet is still on the car but has quite a bit of filler in the front.   
•  N/S and O/S wings in fibreglass.  The original wings that are on the car are steel, but the O/S one has quite a bit of rust at the bottom of the back  edge (shown in one of the pictures)  This piece is available from the Capri club.
• I intended to give the Capri a full re-spray but never found the time to do it. I have therefore included in this auction:

5 litres of Diamond White Cellulous Paint

5 Litres of Primer

5 litres each of Standard and Premium Thinners.
