A an incredibly rare hair pin made of carved white jade and silver metal in 19th century Qing dynasty China. 

The gorgeous white nephrite jade plaque is designed in a pierced, open relief style with swirling designs and an image of a phoenix. It is mounted onto a silver base depicting the image of a bat, which is known in Chinese culture to symbolize blessings. Three silver charms with an ornate repousse design hang from the jade piece.
