Gatcombe Antiques

A mid nineteenth century rosewood veneered tea caddy which has quite an unusual shape. The top is shaped as a rectangle with egg and dart moulding around its perimeter. This sits on an interestingly shaped, eight angled lid with lockable key. It lifts to reveal a dark maroon velvet lining to the inner lid and a two section caddy and lids
with small turned bone knobs, that lift out. It has a brass lock, brass hinges and a diamond shaped mother of pearl escutcheon. The concave sides curve out to form a rectangular base with four wooden oblate bun feet. In very nice condition, it measures 21 cm wide, 14.5 cm deep, and stands 15 cm high.
