"Miss Burton has made me a very pretty little bonnet, and now nothing can satisfy me but I must have a straw hat...like Mrs. Tilson's; and a young woman in this neighbourhood is actually making me one."
Jane Austen to Cassandra
April 18, 1811

Bergere style hats (wide brimmed, low crowned straw hats) were all the rage during the late Georgian and early Regency. They were perfect for shading the face (and avoiding a tan!) They are often found in the portraits of children from the era (see the painting by Gainsborough, 1787) and were made popular in the doll world by Felicity Merriman, especially in the book, Felicity Saves the Day.

This hat is the perfect size for your 18" or taller doll.  It measures 9.5" wide with a crown of 2.5" wide and 3/4" deep.

This listing is for the plain hat only. Doll, dress, shoes, and other accessories not included. If you would like a trimmed version, feel free to contact me about custom colors and trimmings. I'm always happy to try something new. Search online for Austentation: Regency Accessories to see my full line of products shipped from my smoke free home.

I have several hats and bonnets available, so check out my other listings! If you would like to combine your orders, I will refund any extra shipping that you have paid. The same applies for multiples of the same item.
