This is a fine art Nouveau cut glass silverplate claret jug. 24cm tall by 13cm wide. It has many faults, there is a chip in the foot, the hinge piece is missing meaning the top is loose (not attached - just resting on the top), there are cracks in the metal where it looks like it has been dropped.
Despite all of its faults, accidents happen over a hundred or more years, especially if it was being used for the purpose intended....?!.. and one could argue that this all imbibes!? it with a personality of its own - and nevertheless it is of high quality, with a nice conspicuous well formed dragon handle with typical Art Nouveau cut pattern, and a spout that is made to look like a wave pouring........... And it still looks  good on display to boot.
