Up for auction is a late 70's lawsuit era AIMS brand jazz bass.  It is hard to find information about the AIMS company, but they were apparently built in Japan by a former Fender employee.  All I know is that these basses do not come up often and I have only ever seen one other one that was left handed.  I had this one professionally modified with white Dimarzio Model J pickups (really have that 70s growl), a BadAssII bridge, a new custom made nut and a new 3 ply black pick guard.  The neck is maple with a little bit of birdseye in it, with a maple fret board and black block inlays.  It is a solid body, probably alder or ash with a vintage three tone sunburst finish.  Controls are vol/vol/tone like most of the old fender jazz basses.  I love the way this bass looks, but have more basses than I need so I am thinning the herd. I also have the original pickups and the original tortoiseshell pickguard which was warped.  I will include them if anyone is thinking about trying to restore the bass.   I never tested out the original pickups so I don't know what kind of condition they are in.

I've had this bass since 2005, the previous owner had apparently played it upside down and right handed.  They also added a fifth string which is why there is a cut out in the logo on the headstock. I had a new nut put on and had everything restored for left handed playing. It has some buckle rash on the back upper horn, but is in otherwise pretty good shape for a bass that is about 40 years old.  I haven't played this bass much recently so it could probably use some strings and a set up to the new owner's preferences.
