First things first, here is the link to a youtube video that the previous owner of this reciever posted:

I bought it from him about four years ago, and until recently it was my daily driver for my bedroom system. I do have the metal cover for it and it will ship with the unit. It's just not show here. The cover is not in very pretty shape, having some of the paint peeling from heat around the ventilaton openings. I've always preferred to remove the covers from my tube amps that had them for both aesthetic and functional reasons: More air circulation to dissipate heat and being able to see the tubes glowing.
From what I've been able to determine, this unit was made by Allied Electronics but is not a kit. It appears to be identical to the Pilot 602 or 603? Not quite sure of the model number, but it looks identical except for a AM phase switch that the Pilot has. This one of those stereo receivers that was produced at the time when the FM and AM were used to create a stereo signal for output. That era only lasted one or two years until FM multiplexers were built in.
The FM and AM work, but the FM needs to be serviced and aligned. It is not performing up to spec and doesn't sound as it should. I've always used the AUX input for tuner, CD and cassette functions with a switch, so this wasn't an issue for me. If the new owner would like a referral for a tech, I can without hesitation recommend Mike Zuccaro in San Diego for the proper servicing. I had the service tech at VAC, here in Sarasota look it over and replace a power supply capacitor that was acting abnormally about 3 years ago. That, to my knowledge, is the extent of any restoration it has received. It is working normally now, and sounds wonderful, but I'm sure it could benefit from new power supply caps and any out of spec resistors replaced. The output tubes are Sovtec EL84's. Other tubes in the unit are mixed and seem to be performing normally. 20 tubes in all. A couple of the controls, Volume and Balance would benefit from a fresh application of Deoxit. There is pitting of the chrome bezel, but for being 55 years old, it's in great shape. Please examine the photos as to cosmetic condition, they are part of the description. 14 money back guarantee if it arrives DOA or any other issue presents itself. Although is working normally now, as described above, there is no guarantee regarding future performance.
