*You are viewing a listing for 1 x 5g skein or 1 x 50g cone of viscose gimp yarn in a choice of thicknesses.*

Picasso is a highly lustrous gimp yarn where viscose filament is whipped round a cotton core to give a smooth round yarn. Available in two thicknesses – one very light and delicate, the other with more substance and strength – and available on handy 5g skeins or great value 50g cones.

Originally used to stitch around buttonholes, this yarn is now perfect for wrapping around the mould of tassels and ideal for creative beading, jewellery making, delicate macramé and couching into embroideries. Both thicknesses will dye easily with natural or cold water dyes in the same way you would dye cotton.

Knit or crochet into vintage style bags and purses with great stitch definition. Designers such as John Rocha have used gimp type yarns to create structured pieces of couture – both knitted and crocheted, so a brilliant yarn for fashion students and designers to be creative with.

Whilst strong enough for weaving in the warp and weft, please bear in mind that the viscose is whipped across the width of the yarn, rather than the length, so if caught (for example by the repetition of the beater and reed) it could reveal the core underneath.
