As it’s so strong the cord is suitable for weaving in the warp, macramé and other heavy duty projects. It is the ideal warp yarn for tapestry looms, table and floor looms and tablet weaving and peg looms.
It is perfect for knotting and macramé type crafts and would be excellent for nets, hammocks, planters and some of the many popular projects that have launched macramé back into the mainstream within art projects and wallhangings.
Excellent for plaiting and twisting into braids and will create excellent tassels and passmenterie work. The smooth appearance will give great stitch definition and have a nice weight and drape.
Lancashire can be knitted and crocheted and would make very strong and robust bags, bowls, boxes, pouffes or floor cushions.
Makes a really useful all round string when a picture needs re-stringing or a strong string in the garden is required (though it will eventually discolour and rot over time with long exposure to the sun).
The cord can be dyed with cold
water dyes to transform it to your own colourways. As Lancashire is quite dense it might not dye
quite as quickly as other cotton linen yarns as the pigment may struggle to penetrate
through the twists, but should eventually give good results.
Washing Instructions – warm hand wash or machine wash to soften more quickly. Dry flat. Warm iron.
