**NIKON'S WIDE ANGLE MASTERPIECE!**

A lovely example of this unique Nikkor wide angle, the closest focusing Nikkor lens ever made!

There's something about Nikon equipment, you pick it up and you're instantly aware of the seminal images of our lifetime, captured by this wonderful, cherished equipment.  Never is this more apparent than when looking at a Pro level period piece of kit such as this.

A lovely 28mm F2.8 Nikkor AIS, meaning that it is fully compatible with any Nikon SLR and DSLR ever made. I have been testing it on a D7000 with excellent results.

Famous for its amazingly complex eight element - eight group design, this lens is widely held to be the sharpest wide angle Nikkor ever offered.  The serial number dates this particular lens to 1981, it is in fact, one of the first 1500 made, built right at the pinnacle of Nikon's technical supremacy.  Like many enthusiasts, I have a deep love for Nikkors of this era, the beauty of their design is only surpassed by the staggering images they produce.  These lenses really are legendary and in terms of digital compatible lenses are amongst the very best you can find anywhere.

Further to these plaudits, the 28/2.8 AIS is renowned as the closest focusing of all Nikkors, focusing right down to 20cm from the plane of focus, meaning less than 10cm from the front element.  While this does not make this a macro lens per se, It does offer some truly wonderful compositional opportunities.

Contemporary to the seminal Nikon FM2 and F3/F4 SLRs, this lovely lens is AIS F Mount, so compatible with all Nikon SLRs and DSLRs made since 1959 and the ideal companion to any of the excellent Nikon bodies currently for sale in my OTHER AUCTIONS  It will also happily work with all current Nikon DSLRs, right up to the fabulous new Df.  I have had great fun with it mounted on a D7000, which offers all metering options with this lens.  With appropriate adapters, it will deliver similarly excellent results with Canon DSLRs, Samsung NX and Sony NEX and Micro Four Thirds bodies, such as the Panasonic G and Olympus PEN series, as well as Nikon's own Nikon 1 system.  There is growing demand for legacy lenses from those who have invested in the glorious new Full Frame Sony A7/r/s system.

This particular example is in good used condition, having seemingly spent most of in storage.  The focus and aperture rings move as smoothly as you would hope from a Nikon lens, both remaining light and constant.  Save for a little rub on the ever prone armadillo textured aperture ring, there are no signs of use at all.  The one proviso is that there is some very light scratching to the rear element as can be seen in the photos, but does not have any effect on your final images. There is no internal dust visible when the lens is held up to daylight.  The optics of course bear that gorgeous Nikkor NIC multicoating which shimmers green to blue in the light.

Traditionally, the 28mm is regarded as a wide angle lens, but it lends itself to much, much more, the extra speed and legendary sharpness and close focusing of the AIS version makes it the ideal partner for many kinds of photography, from a simple group portrait or sweeping landscape to an all encompassing interior or a closeup portrait or flower shot.

The lens will be supplied as pictured, with Nikon caps, ready for you to get to work immediately!

So there you have it, A rare opportunity to acquire the most sought after of all Nikkor wideangle lenses at a bargain price.  Of course, equipment of this vintage takes us into the realm of the collectible, so it may be possible to buy this lens, enjoy it, and part with it in the future for the same or more than you paid for it, making it effectively free!  Don't you just love photography?

Hopefully, the description and photos will answer any questions you may have, but please feel free to drop me an email if anything needs clarifying further.
