Description

This auction is for a beautiful solid silver hallmarked cup holder dating to the late Art Nouveau/early Art Deco era with a most attractive coffee can plus saucer from Paragon.

The solid silver holder has beautiful cut out motifs of swags and bows with a reeded rim plus 'stepped' thumb rest to the clef shaped handle.  It is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1919 (lion passant, anchor and 'u' ) with a maker's mark of CSG & Co into a shield for Charles S Green Ltd of Hatton Garden London & Warstone Lane Birmingham.

The coffee can and saucer are in a delicate shade of lilac red with gilded design of garlands and scrolls plus raised 'jewelled' beads in deep blue and further gilt beading around the rims.

The silver holder is in excellent undamaged condition with clear hallmarks.

The can and saucer are also in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and just a little wear to the lilac ground, chiefly covered by the holder.

The pair are marked with the Star & Paragon China England backstamp.

The holder, with cup inside, measures about 6.7 cm high to the top of the rim while the saucer has a diameter of 10.75 cm.
