the shiki1000 is an 8 axle schnabel car designed to transport a 55 ton load - usually electrical transformers - at 75 kph......3 wagons were built by nippon sharyo in the mid 1970s and are still in operation, now owned by japan freight......

tomix has been making the same freight car models for the past 40 years........early production was in hong kong before manufacturing was repatriated to japan......when the relocation occurred, tomix changed the numbers of the wagons.......therefore, this model was numbered 2735 during the 1980s and 1990s and is now numbered 2773.......

i acquired this wagon from a small second hand shop in japan which claimed that the model was unused......when i received the shiki1000, the claim had the ring of verisimilitude...the cardboard box was comparatively undamaged, the transformer loads were unopened and thus unassembled, and the wagon itself was pristine.......of course, the wheel sets were the rubber ones typical of early tomix 1980s and 1990s production........therefore, i changed the wheel sets to kato 11-605s, mirroring the look of the tomix 2773 shiki1000......the new owner will be receiving an unused item with updated wheel sets........

i will include the replaced rubber wheel sets in the shipment.........
