A very nice, likely never run, Lionel 12862 Operating Drum Loader with Yard Lights for O/027 & S gauge made 1994-95.  Works great with all O/027 & S scale trains.  

This Lionel re-make of the American Flyer classic features a reliable can motor & belt/gear drive system, loader cart & operator, tubular track lock-on, On/Off switch, hook-up wires and 6 metal Drums for loading.  

** The accessory bag and Yard Lights had never been opened but I opened them to get the drums & lights for testing & photos**

You start by manually loading the 6 drums on the "ready ramp"  When switched on the operator "drives" his cart across the dock, picks up a single drum and then drives the cart & drum across the dock to a waiting truck/ train car (your choice) and dumps the drum into it.  He then dives back across the dock to pick-up the next drum.  He moves as long as the switch is "on" and stops as soon as it is switched "off." 

I briefly bench-tested this accessory and the motor and loading operation worked fine.  I installed and tested the yard lights but did not fully seat them in the platform so that I could easily remove them for packing.  The very peak of the roof is missing a small amount of green paint and that is very common with the Lionel drum loaders because the box fits so tight.  

The accessory can run off track power but I would suggest using a fixed voltage supply such as accessory terminals or another transformer.  The yard lights can be wired to be always on or on only during loading operations.

This is a great layout accessory with lots of action & visual appeal for O or S gauge layouts!  *** Note: for O gauge use will likely need to elevate the accessory for proper dumping clearance to account for roadbed, rail & car heights***
