Rare limited edition David Chesney bronze mixed media statue of a seated Teddy Bear with a pot of honey. Adorable bear, cute face, fur engraving all over, and the artist used a rare multi-metal technique to add silvery and copper highlights to the bear's nose, paws, and honey pot! David Chesney is famed for his bronzes with bronze, copper, silver, pewter and brass accents to give multicolor life to wildlife subjects rather than just plain boring all bown bronzes. So, as expected, this bear has a bronze brown body, copper highlights on his nose and paws, silver/pewter highlights on his eyes and his honey pot, and golden brass highlights on the honey in the honey pot. A must have! I'm not sure how these pieces are made with the lovely multi color finishes, but, the effect is lovely. I have heard some Chesney pieces are hollow bronze filled with other materials for stability, so I am not sure if this is solid bronze, or hollow and filled. However it was made, the effect was lovely and the piece is very heavy, substantial and high end. This one is in lovely condition with no damage, repairs, or alterations. Untouched and all original, felt bottom. As the owner of several of his works, I can state how lovely they are in person.
The bear is 3.5 inches tall, 3 inches wide, and 3 inches deep and weighs roughly 2 pounds, very heavy for this size. He has a brown velvety bottom for protection. Pre-owned but in like new giftable condition. He is #279 out of only 2500 ever made and is signed and numbered by the artist.
